Chapter 5

For the first time in her life, Audrey woke up in someone’s arms, and she wasn’t sure she’d ever be able to go back to waking up alone. Especially not with the delicious feel of Callum’s solid, muscular body pressed against her back, his arms wrapped around her. It was definitely something a girl could get used to.

Unfortunately, she also woke up to Louise’s flustered exclamations.

Oh, shit.

“Good morning, Your Highness, I…Oh, pardon me! I didn’t realize…Oh, my goodness!”

Audrey and Callum bolted upright almost in unison, causing the sheet to slip down. With a small shriek, she clutched it to her chest as Callum whipped a pillow down over his waist. Her eyes widened when she noticed the gun clutched in his other hand, dangling over the side of the bed. She looked at him, trying to ask him what the hell? with her eyes. He shrugged, a rueful smile tugging up the corner of his mouth.

“Old habit,” he murmured, keeping the gun hidden from Louise’s view.

“I’ll, erm…” Louise cleared her throat and then backed out of the room, averting her eyes. She closed the door behind her, enveloping the room in silence. Audrey burst out laughing and fell into Callum, pressing her face into his chest to muffle the sound. A warm flush spread over her face as she thought of what Louise must’ve seen.

“Well, I guess the cat’s out of the bag now,” she said. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.

“Aye.” He didn’t say anything more, so she pulled back to look at him, sensing there was something on his mind. “Are you embarrassed?” he asked quietly, and she knew what he was asking.

“To be found naked in bed? A little. To be found with you?” She pressed her palm to his stubbled cheek. “Not even a little.” She could see the relief etched on his face and it made her heart hurt a little for him. Convincing him he was good enough for her would take some work, but she was more than game. Tossing the sheet aside, she pressed her palms to his shoulders and pushed him down onto the mattress. She swung her leg over his hips, climbing on top of him. An ache emanated from between her legs, but even though she was sore, she wanted him again. After they’d made love for the first time last night, they’d talked a bit and then fallen asleep. A few hours later, she’d woken up and hadn’t been able to stop herself from kissing him. He’d stirred, kissing her back, and after retrieving another condom, he’d laid down behind her, pushing inside her with slow, languorous strokes, his hand between her legs.

She couldn’t get enough of him. She couldn’t get enough of his mouth, his body inside hers, the feel of his arms around her. The sound of his voice, the smell of his skin, the way he looked at her. She was completely and totally addicted.

She rolled her hips in a circle on top of him and he let out a ragged breath.
